Summit Sports comes to Novi Ice Arena

Hockey equipment retailer leases pro shop space

Summit Sports has opened its newest location at the pro shop in the Novi Ice Arena.
The Novi City Council approved the three-year lease agreement with a two-year option
on Monday, July 11, and after completing renovations to the existing space, Summit
Sports has opened for business. The store features a full line of products from major
brands at the guaranteed lowest prices, as well as equipment repairs and high-quality
skate sharpening.

“We have a great reputation with the public and hockey manufacturers,” Summit Sports,
Inc. President Steve Kopitz said, “and we also have very strong buying power with the
manufacturers due to our large volume. We can buy equipment considerably cheaper
than a small operator, allowing us to sell all products at or below the prices customers
would pay elsewhere. Summit Sports is very happy to bring this capability to the people
who come to the great ice arena in Novi.”

Bloomfield Hills, MI-based Summit Sports, Inc. has been in business for over 15 years in
the Detroit area, with nine other retail locations, a warehouse and distribution center,
as well as an online store at www.summitonline.com.

“We are very excited to welcome Summit Sports to the Novi Ice Arena,” Suburban
Sports Group President Tom Anastos said.  “They will operate a full-service store with
an excellent selection of brands, competitive pricing and outstanding service to our
guests. They will be an excellent addition to the arena.”

Novi Ice Arena, a 70,000 square-foot two-sheet facility located east of Novi Road
between Nine Mile and Ten Mile Roads, is also home to the Novi Youth Hockey
Association, Skating Club of Novi, Learn to Skate Program, Novi Adult Hockey Leagues,
Novi High School Hockey and Northville High School Hockey. The municipally-owned
facility is managed by Suburban Sports Group of Farmington Hills, MI. Suburban Sports
Group operates four other Michigan facilities - Suburban Ice-East Lansing, Suburban Ice
Farmington Hills, Suburban Ice-Macomb and the Onyx-Rochester Ice Arena.
