Perani's Hockey World comes to East Lansing

"The Toy Store for the Hockey Player" adds location at Suburban Ice - East Lansing

Perani’s Hockey World, the largest independent hockey retailer in the world, will open its
newest location inside of Suburban Ice – East Lansing (formerly known as Ice Sports
East Lansing) on September 3. The store will feature a full line of products and expert
skate sharpening.

“We’re excited about expanding into the greater Lansing market and look forward to
continuing our successful relationship with Suburban,” said Perani’s President Bob Perani.

Originally opened in Flint, Mich. in 1976, Perani’s has expanded to 15 locations
throughout North America, including nine stores throughout Michigan as well as one in
Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas and three in Ontario. Hockey equipment manufacturers
voted Perani’s “Retailer of the Year” in 2002. Suburban Sports Group (SSG), which
assumed management of Suburban Ice – East Lansing on August 1, is pleased to partner
with Perani’s.

“Bob Perani shares in our passion for hockey and is committed to its ongoing growth at
all levels,” said SSG President Tom Anastos.  “Perani’s Hockey World is one of the most
respected hockey retailers in the world, and we’re ecstatic about their decision to come
to East Lansing.  They will provide inventory options and a service commitment to our
customers and the greater Lansing area that is unmatched in the marketplace.”

Suburban Ice – East Lansing, a 90,000 square-foot two-sheet facility located just east
of the Michigan State University campus, is also home to the Greater Lansing Amateur
Hockey Association, Lansing Skating Club, Learn to Skate Program, FUNdamental Hockey
Program for youth and adults, Labatt Adult Hockey League and several area high school
teams. SSG manages three other Michigan facilities – the Novi Ice Arena, Onyx –
Rochester Ice Arena and Suburban Training Center in Farmington Hills – and is in the
process of building another facility in Macomb Township, Mich. that will open in summer
of 2005.
