Suburban Sports Group, the Farmington Hills-based company that is developing
Suburban Ice-Macomb, will hold Town Hall Meetings on March 1 & 2 at the Wolverine
Golf Club in Macomb Township. Sessions will be held both days at 6:30 and 8:15 p.m.
at the golf club’s banquet center, which is located at 17201 25 Mile Road at Romeo
Plank Road.
Construction began on the two-sheet ice facility located in the Macomb Town Center
area (on the southwest corner of 25 Mile and Broughton Roads) in October. The
purpose of the town hall meetings is to give members of the community the opportunity
to learn more about Suburban Ice-Macomb, get updates about the construction
progress, inquire about programming at the facility and register for fall/winter hockey
programs.
The 70,000 square-foot facility, which will open in August of 2005, will feature two
NHL-sized ice surfaces (200 x 85 feet), a pro shop, concessions, skate rental, a game
room, meeting rooms, 10 locker rooms, a hockey staff room and a figure skating staff
room.
Activities at Suburban Ice – Macomb will include youth and adult hockey, hockey
tournaments, hockey instructional programs, figure skating, learn to skate program,
public skating, group parties, corporate functions, and high school hockey.
Suburban Sports Group has a combined 32 years of experience specializing in
recreational ice arena development, consulting & management, programming, and
