Suburban Sports Group launches “Respect the Game”
program

Increased awareness the goal of public service campaign

Farmington Hills (MI)-based Suburban Sports Group (SSG) has launched the “Respect
the Game” campaign, designed as a public service program to increase the awareness
and importance of respect in amateur hockey.

“Unfortunately, it’s pretty evident that the level of respect throughout amateur sports
has been declining,” says SSG president Tom Anastos.  “A greater level of respect for
and among coaches, players, officials, parents and the facilities that house youth hockey
programs will only enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the game.  We hope that arenas
throughout the state and country, along with youth hockey programs everywhere, will
join us in raising awareness to this very important issue.”

“Respect the Game” posters have been developed and distributed to participating facilities
throughout Michigan.  Michigan Hockey, the region’s largest hockey publication, has
committed to running a series of advertisements, as well as some special editorial
features, which will highlight the effort.  In addition, participating ice arena facilities may
also purchase specially designed “Respect the Game” dasher board decals to display in
their facility.

Suburban Sports Group has a combined 30 years of experience specializing in recreational
ice arena consulting & management, programming, and sports & event marketing/
communications. Those interested in participating in the “Respect the Game” campaign
can contact Geoff Bennetts at (248) 888-1400 or
gbennetts@suburbanhockey.com.
