Suburban Hockey Schools - 1975

Founded in 1974, Suburban Sports Group (SSG) has
over 30 years of experience and specializes in
Recreational Ice Arena Consulting and Management,
Recreational Ice Arena Programming, and Sports &
Event Marketing/Communications.

 

The ice arena business requires constant focus and
attention to detail.  Whether its developing an
accurate business plan that will support financing
requests, building a facility that will operate in an
efficient manner, or implementing a programmatic
strategy that will ensure the long-term success of a
facility, SSG has proven results. 

 

STC constructionSuburban developed its Consulting & Management
division (Suburban Arena
Management) in 1997, to
develop, own and operate the Suburban Training
Center (STC) in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Since
that time, SSG has developed into one of the most
dynamic arena specialists in the business, with
considerable experience working with all segments
of the businesscommunity. 

SSG’s competitive edge is derived from its diversity,
knowing first-hand the challenges of arena ownership, 
in addition to having worked extensively with both
privately owned and publicly owned facilities. 

The company also specializes in “turnaround” projects,
having proven expertise creating the vision, focus and
discipline necessary to execute market-specific
strategies that will allow the facility to meet its
objectives.

 

More than 10,000 players/skaters participate annually
in Suburban-run hockey and figure skating programs,
which offer instruction for all age and ability levels.

Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, SSG
has 40 full-time employees and over 200 part-time
employees. SSG believes strongly in personnel training,
and has established “Suburban University” as an
integral program which trains and develops managers,
customer service attendants, maintenance personnel,
and instructional staff members on an ongoing basis. 

Services provided by the company include feasibility analysis, strategic planning, financial
analysis, contract negotiation, client representation, programming, personnel training and
multi-media sports marketing.  The company’s wealth of experience and hands-on
approach ensures the client proven strategies and solutions for their specific needs.
